how do I get my browser to clear history when I exit my browser automatically?

Click the firefox menu > Options submenu > Options
In privacy tab, the default setting is "Remember History", click on the drop down and change to "Use Custom Settings for History". A list of checkboxes appear. Select the last checkbox which says "Clear History when Firefox closes".
Then press "Ok" at the bottom and you're done.
