I have searched everywhere for an answer already
ok ... First? I would like to say in advance - THANK YOU for reading this and hopefully responding ... sometimes? Firefox works? and sometimes it does not. I cant edit any WIX pages in Opera, which has been my go to browser for a while now. however? Firefox has some add ons that I find quite useful and really! need my Firefox back! Some of the tricks for resetting it? starts with me needing the thing to open to do it!? so - I dont understand - if I could open it? I wouldnt need to go and fix it! Im running Windows 7 - and Ive tried moving to newer versions - and older versions of Firefox ... plainly put? sometimes it will work. but 95% of the time? nothing! please? please? help me?

You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe mode:
- On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
- On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
- Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
ok ... the holding shift down when double clicking the firefox icon? I had not read ... does not work. the turn off hard ware accelerator? the FIRST STEP says ... "At the top of the Firefox window, click on the .... " if I cant open it? how can I do anything at the top of the firefox window?
Do you get the Safe mode start window?
Can you bring up the Profile Manager?
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
by restarting the computer? and hitting my F8 key ... I WAS able to get into firefox through safe mode that way ... cant seem to get the profile manager to come up though ... :/ whats going on? as in - why is this happening? Id feel alot more comfortable if I wasnt getting copy and paste stuff. although I DO understand you are having to rule out things through process of elimination ... ( thanks for trying to help me fix this. I assure you I went through hell trying to find an answer before I came here to ask formally.)
