Every time Firefox is started on my computer, for the first time only, the start page comes up with the "server not found" error message. Clicking on "try again" always works, and I rarely have this problem again until I start my computer the next day.

I've gone through all of Mozilla's advice about firewalls, etc., but I think the problem resides in a conflict somewhere within the about:config settings that begin "browser.startup" and "startup.homepage". I wish I could insert screenshot...

browser.startup.homepage http://flavorpill.com/losangeles/events browser.startup.homepage_override.buildID 20130116073211 browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone 18.0.1 browser.startup.page 1 startup.homepage_override_url http://www.mozilla.com/%LOCAL%/%APPS%/etc. etc. startup.homepage_welcome_url http://mozilla.com/%LOCAL%/%APPS%/etc. etc.

Maybe check for DNS and IPv6 and other connection relates issues.

You can try to reset (power off/on) the router.

This does not answer my question—I've been through all of the standard related help articles, and none address this issue.

Again—I'm growing ever more frustrated with this issue. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Is there something in the about:config settings shown in this screenshot that looks like the source of my daily "server not found" problem?

Thank you!

Does it work if you wait a bit longer before trying to start Firefox to connect to the internet?

If it possible that your firewall needs more time to initialize fully and is still blocking access.

The firewall on my Mac is turned off...when I click the error message on the page, it always connects immediately to the home page without further problems. This has also happened when I've used other sites as home pages.

I also conducted a test where I removed FF from the startup folder and manually opened it after startup, and got the same results.

Notably, Thunderbird quite frequently also fails to get messages at startup, and I will have to manually click "get mail" for it to do what should happen automatically..

I am using the Apple Time Capsule as the wifi intermediary between my cable/wifi modem and the Mac, but Apple says that this would in no way be the source of my problem.
