How can I put a bookmark icon onto my desktop screen?

With Safari I was able to drag a bookmark to my desktop screen and open it from there. Can I do the same with Firefox?

You can drag the favicon on the left end of the location bar onto the desktop to create a shortcut.

You can also use an extension.
