How to import bookmarks which were made in Microsoft Internet Explorer but are not now in Explorer - they are in a folder on my PC; there is a problem with Explorer so I cannot import them there either.

I have a problem with Microsoft Internet Explorer - it has lost my Favourites, and I don't know how to put them back in there. However, the favourites are all listed in my PC in a folder within my user name folder. I thought I could try to import them into Firefox, but I have not found how to do that. I am running Windows XP Professional.
