Memory starts at 60k but climbs steadily until there is no more free ram.

Firefox 4.0 starts at 60k ram but continues to steadily increase the ram used, even when idle, until roughly 1/2 G (on a 1 G machine) is used. At that point it gets so slow as to be unusable. Moreover, when I try to close it and then re-open it, it claims that another copy is running already.

At present, after about 20 minutes, it is using 215 k. That seems a bit much for a browser with only one tab open. (Note: It was at 220k but I just closed one tab and got 5k back. Does it really take 5 k to hold a tab open?)

While I was typing the above, it jumped to 230,980 k in three jumps.

Houston, I think we have a memory issue.
