Using 64 bit Explorer works but 32 bit Firefox or 32 bit explorer says can't access website

I recently downloaded a program to strip clean old programs and ran it. Since then my Firefox won't work- it shows that it can't display the page and asks to diagnose connection problems. It also does this in 32 bit explorer but 64 bit explorer works. I have Toshiba Sataellite with Win 7
