Since most recent auto update Firefox won't open or respond or do anything when I click on the icon even after restart

I am using firefox 3.6.13 on windows xp pro. Have been using firefox for a long time. Now it won't open, no error message, not even adding the process in my task manager. How do I get the browser back without uninstalling? I really don't want to loose my my bookmarks I have spent months finding them all.
