Intranet DNS fails, Internet still works, Other programs can access Intranet, Ok up to 3.6.6, broken in 3.6.7 upgrade

Local DNS server (corporate intranet) does not like Firfofox requests.

Intranet sites end up with: 

   Host Not Found
   DNS error (the host name of the page you are looking for does not exist) or Server did not accept the connection.
   Please check that the host name has been spelled correctly.

All external sites resolve correctly. All internal sites can be pinged & reached with IE.

Problem stared after 3.6.7 update; 3.6.6 was ok. No changes made to corporate network.

What changed in 3.6.7 that affected DNS / authentication with local DNS?
