Thunderbird - sending mail from hotmail problem

I have latest version 102.8.0 of Thunderbird and recently (past few weeks) mail has failed to send from my hotmail account, the SMTP server settings are all OK and as per laid out on both the Outlook site and the Thunderbird website.

The problem I am experiencing is that if a compose or reply to an email and click on send, thunderbird freezes. I click on cancel and then try to send again which seems to work 99% of the time. Mail sent from two other mail.accounts seems work within Thunderbird. I have looked in tools/developer/errors and see the following but I doubt if relevant.

Any ideas? Would a full reinstall be the answer? I don't seem to be able to find another example of this particular problem.
