Thunderbird jumps upon opening new email on laptop

When I open a new Thunderbird email on my laptop, the display "jumps" up slightly and then back down again. This seems to be a "feature/bug" introduced in a recent version update. I am using version 91.9.1 . Is this a bug? Is it fixable? It is annoying to wait for it to finish its jumping for each new email.
