firefox won't open after Sleep

This has been going on for at least 6 months. When I close my computer with firefox running, when I open it again, I have to force quit it firefox. It says it is open, but I can't see the actual windows. After a force quit, When I try to open firefox again, it says that another copy is already running. There is no fix to this unless I restart my computer. Sometimes it locks the comp and I have to do a hard restart. This is a daily occurrence and I'm getting to the point where after so many years, I will have to discontinue using firefox unless I get some help. mac ios 10.13.6 firefox 91 Thanks!
