how to compile firefox for powerpc
I want to upgrade the version of Firefire I am using on a PowerPC e5500 running Ubuntu. The system is only like a year old. Everywhere I go it tells me I need a new browser and they make it sound simple to upgrade. However, the package manager has been disable and everything needs to be compiled. May things compile easily, but I have not be able to make Firefox compile. I was told that I would need a patch for PowerPC. Does anyone know where I can get that patch?

You probably need to get that from a third party.
The only PowerPC variant I've heard of is for Mac: http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
It is not a Mac. It is a new multi-core PowerPC 64 bit system and tenfourfox is Mac only. Also, it uses a book3e verses the book3s processor that most Macs used, so I can't even run Mac OS without an emulator (not sure if this would be legal). I know that the PowerPC Notebook project (https://www.powerpc-notebook.org/en/ ) is doing a lot of work on make everything on PowerPC Linux work smoothly and that it is a very active project. I really don't know if they done any work to make Firefox work on PowerPC, or not. Also, they plain on using an PowerPC e6500 where as I have a PowerPC e5500. It would be nice if I could just download the latest version of Firefox optimized for the PowerPC e5500, or the e6500.
I guess that I will maybe ask on one of the X5000 forums and see if they know where I can get the patch. If I find it, I will put a link here. Unless someone else can suggest a better solution. I may just change the user agent, so that I don't have websites complaining until I can figure out something else.
