Hi Firefox was working great until today's 58.0.1 auto update.

Safari and Chrome do not have the insecure certificate issue.

Although the article "How to troubleshoot the error code "SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER" on secure websites" offers a working solution (in my case: turn off "scan secured connections" in Avast) it doesn't explain whether its actually safe to do that. I guess its a valid idea to scan secure connections - or why did Avast include the feature?

So for me, and I am sure others, turning off its protection is scary

Before turning off Avast's "scan secured connections" , I first scanned with malware bytes and it just found the dreaded mac keeper which has been removed, scan is now clear.

SO, here's my question, the only way I can get Firefox to open sites like google [any https site I think] is to turn off Avast's "scan secured connections" - is it safe to do that? And why don't my other browsers (or for that matter Firefox up til today's update) have the issue?

Just so I can feel safe it would be great to get a simple answer to this PLEASE guys.

thanks so much
