bookmarks stopped working w/ upgrade to 57

After upgrade to 57: Neither "Bookmarks" from the old horizontal menu bar nor the new star icon will successfully create a new bookmark. All the old bookmarks are still there, and all work.

Also, the URL autocomplete function stopped working after the upgrade.
