SessionManager and Plugins partially resetted after crash

Maybe it's just a coincidence with an upgrade,... but here my scenario:

i am running firefox with many tabs open (over 900), and after a while running it starts to consume much CPU/RAM, until I have to kill it. A restart will return almost instantaneously to this laggy/unfunctional state. After reboot, this problem is resolved.

i use the excellent plugin "SessionManager" to organize and restore my sessions. Today I run into this problem again, after 1-2 crashes, firefox first failed to bring back my tabs (showing notifications of some pinned tabs so - despite staying in blank state, no tabs appearing). After the next restart firefox restarted without asking me for my last sessions.

It started with all plugins disabled (tagged as "legacy" - so I am assuming this is the effect of an upgrade), but also lost all my sessions. Not completely lost, both of my "session groups" are still shown in the "Session Manager", but they are just containing 1 session each, without any tabs.

There should be "restore sessions" from my last 10 days, but they are gone.

[code]

ls -la /home/user/.mozilla/firefox/ti9hh57i.default drwx------ 2 user user 4096 Sep 27 13:08 . drwx------ 21 user user 4096 Sep 27 13:11 .. -rw------- 1 user user 1289 Sep 27 12:58 previous.js -rw------- 1 user user 10023 Sep 27 13:03 recovery.bak -rw------- 1 user user 33388 Sep 27 13:08 recovery.js -rw------- 1 user user 2117645 Aug 20 04:13 tabGroups-update.js-1503195189895 -rw------- 1 user user 1285816 Jul 14 01:17 upgrade.js-20170612122310 -rw------- 1 user user 1673815 Aug 21 13:18 upgrade.js-20170814194055 -rw------- 1 user user 1780637 Aug 22 21:39 upgrade.js-20170816210634

[ti9hh57i.default] ls -la sessions/ 13:24:32 drwxr-xr-x 2 user user 4096 Jul 11 20:06 . drwx------ 21 user user 4096 Sep 27 13:23 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 user user 116527 Jul 11 20:05 Bookmark Tab-2017-07-11.session -rw-r--r-- 1 user user 116517 Jul 11 20:06 current.session /code

It seems that the last backup/recovery is from August 16 (upgrade.js-20170816210634). the new one's are super small and empty. i suppose, restoring these are documented, but without a external backup (i sadly don't have), my tabs are lost?

hint: surfing history is still there.

so my final question: any hope to restore tabs from somewhere else?

UPDATE: trying to format the directory listings without success...
