Have followed guidelines re migrating Thunderbird to new system. Got address book but no emails???

going from Thunderbird (45.8.0) on Windows 7 to Thunderbird (52.1.1) on Windows 10 . Followed the guidlines re coping the CONTENTS of the profile on apdata (user/appdata/roaming/thunderbird/profiles.. to the same address on the W10 system. The result was the address book was successfully migrated, but no emails were. The inbox folders appear to be copied as I saw the folder names during the 'paste' process. Somehow Thunderbird does not recognize their existence. I've checked the copied contents by name and they appear to be the same as on the W7 system. Please note that I did not change the profile name on the W10 sytems. But only copied the contents of the W7 tbird profile into the existing W10 profile.
