Where does Thunderbird store my emails on my Windows 10 PC? I wish to back them up to an external drive.
I am not a "techie". I have read the articles and answers to similar questions, but to no avail. Please keep it simple.
Chosen solution
The answer is "your profile".
The easy way to find this is to open the help dialogue. Find "Help" in the menu, click it, then click "Troubleshooting Information".
You should see a new window/tab. Near the top is a button labelled "Show folder". This will open your profile in your file manager, most likely Windows Explorer.
You say you're not a techie, but you have embarked on a process for protecting your data and there are some things to think about. How are you going to backup your profile? Have you considered how you might recover it after a breakdown or accident?
The ImportExportTools add-on has a facility for exporting and importing a profile, which is another way of thinking about doing a backup. You might find this an attractive way to go, since on the face of it, recovering your profile might be easier. You just use the same tool to import it.
