feedloop in wifi search

more options

In my Firefox OS smartphone, whenever I try to search for any Wifi hotspots in the area, the search never ends. In other words, there is a feed loop within the search. This is only a problem whenever I try to connect wifi hotspots which is new to the phone, not for the ones that I have connected to before. However, despite the successful wifi connections to these older wifi spots(I can use it's internet and everything), the wifi settings in my Firefox OS still displays the search screen. It "Search" just continues to loop.

My theory is that the device can still recognize all of the surround hotspots in the area however it never leaves the search screen/display and the "search" never ends and therefore never follows into the 'select your wifi connection option' because it's stuck in its search loop.

I hope this doesn't sound too confusing, and I hope I can resolve this problem soon.

Thank you for everyone willing to lend a hand

Hi, Mike!

Could you confirm your device model and which Firefox OS version are you using?

Also, did you check if a factory reset can fix this problem?

Hi, thanks for the reply.

My device model is: 6015X Firefox OS: 2.0.0.0

I haven't tried the factory reset as of yet, many because I don't want to resort to that unless there is no other way. I just don't want to lose all of the contents and info of my phone, unless I could somehow copy all of the contents onto my laptop.

However before we get into that, upon reading the support guides I have ran into this: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/Firefox_OS/Troubleshooting

Under network problems, it seems I could try this but I'm not sure where to apply this coding. Do you know if I could use the Firefox development on my windows xp OS to connect this device to use this coding on it. I'm a little new to this debugging thing, though I have used some basic coding in linux systems before which seems a bit similar.

Hi, for those who have the same problem as I do, there is a another way to hook onto a wifi system with your device.

First go into the Settings and select Device information under Device then More Information. Scroll to the bottem and hit the Developer Menu, this of course will allow you to access the Developer Menu.

Go back into the main Settings and select Developer. Again scroll to the bottom and select Launch First Time Use. Now Skip pass the first two options (Language and Cellular Data) by hitting next. Now you have entered the Select a network menu and for some reason (or at least with my device) you will be able to select your Wifi connections from here. Do you usual select your wifi connection, put in password and such then once you've returned to the "Select a network menu" just keep hitting the Next button until you've left the First Time Use menu. Also, hit Skip when you've entered the Tour Phase. Now you should be able to use your chosen Wifi.

Until I've found the cure to fix the wifi search with in Main Network Selection, this method shall suffice. Hope this will be useful to anyone out there.
