I run Thunderbird 31.4.0 on CentOS. This is how to reproduce my problem:

1. Send an email from another account (say, Gmail) to your Thunderbird e-mail account.

2. View that e-mail, and in the main window, click in the "reply" textbox (do not open a new window, but start replying just below the received e-mail.

3. Start typing a response in this box.

4. From your Gmail account, now send a reply all to the e-mail you first sent.

5. The response you started typing in Thunderbird vanishes as soon as the reply from the other account arrives. It is not stored in drafts, it does not go to the trashbin, I cannot find it anywhere.

EDIT: Line breaks
