How to see search suggestions from non-default search engines in FF 34?

With the search bar redesign after v34 users pick the search engine by clicking on the corresponding engine logo button. This doesn't allow to see the suggestions from the engine, unless the engine is the default one. Is there way to do it with the new search UI?

Because of this feature I had to roll back to the old search by setting browser.search.showOneOffButtons=false.
