this is an annoying situation I encounter a lot. steps to encounter this problem: 1. open 3 or more tabs, for this example they are called tab1, tab2, and tab3 in spot1, spot2, and spot3. 2. go to tab1 and close the tab switcher. 3. open the tab switcher, and close tab1 by sliding it sideways. 4. after tab2 jumps to spot1, tap it to switch to tab2. 5. observe the bug: firefox for android skips tab2 and instead opens tab3.

this happens to me a lot and I often don't notice it in time. after this happens I close the tab in spot1 (tab2) thinking that was the tab I just viewed.

Hi thedicemaster, I tried this on the latest Beta update b-linux64-hp-0026 (from about:buildconfig) and could not replicate this. Are you connected to wifi or data? and do you have any add ons installed?

Thank you!

connection doesn't matter. my add-ons: Google reverse image search adblock plus save link menus

none them are related to tab behavior.

I've encountered this problem on different devices, but doesn't happen every time. it usually happens when I move quickly.

Thedicemaster, Can you correct what I am doing wrong please? I recorded it using beta, but I think I may be interpreting your instructions incorrectly? https://docs.google.com/a/mozilla.com.../edit

Thank you for your clarifications!

after you close the 1st tab I can't really see what you do, but it seems you press outside the tab switcher screen?

the problem occurs if you tap the actual tab. it also only occurs if you're quick(right after the 2nd tab moves up to the 1st spot) if you wait a few seconds between closing the 1st tab and tapping the 2nd it will open properly.

Hi thedicemaster, If you swipe to close the first tab, then tap the tab that is in that first slot, the original second tab appears for me. (While in list tab view)

If I swipe to the right to close the first tab then quickly select the 2nd tab that moves to the 1st sport I still see the new tab. Perhaps I am not quick enough. (This is also in list tab view with out tapping the tab switcher as I did in the video.)

http://youtu.be/EtomCKXmbj0 i made a video of my own showing the problem. tab 1: tweakers.net tab 2: phandroid.com tab 3: xda-developers.com you can clearly see from the highlighted border that firefox knows i want to open the phandroid tab, but it opens xda-developers instead.

for privacy reasons i replaced sound with random YT music, and used no light.

Thank you, major fail on my part. I wonder if it is because I do not have the three dot menu on my installed version. May I have your permission to file a bug with the about:support information from your device as well as the build from the about:buildconfig source, and platform.

I would love to find someone who can figure this one out if possible. The bug site is [bugzilla.mozilla.org] and the category would be fennec.

go ahead.

I did some testing with other devices. it doesn't occur on a tablet(horizontal tab list) but it does occur with a phone that has a dedicated menu key(no dots, vertical tab list)
