Note: Starting in Firefox version 106, Windows 10+ users with an automated update installed in the background will see a Windows toast notification if they haven’t opened Firefox in 28 days.

Update notifications are part of a Firefox study that collects information to help Mozilla make more informed decisions about future updates. They are designed to let you know when a brand-new Firefox version is available, even when Firefox is closed.
