colors appearing on screen
I am seeing weird colors and spots on my screen sporadically, and it's even made it's way to my regular desktop when I right click. But the problem goes away entirely once Firefox is closed. When I see the weird colors or pixels around the browser, simply minimizing the browser screen and then maximizing it again makes the blotchy looking colors go away.
Here is a link to an image showing what the menu looks like that pops up when I right click on my desktop with Firefox running (sometimes, not all of the time). That goes away when I close the browser. And that color is the same color of pixels I will see in my browser, or small square blotches in various areas.
I'm not positive of this, but it would seem that this issue started within the past month, I think with one of the most recent updates to Firefox.

I just noticed a similar add on issue. When I rest my mouse cursor on the FF icon on the taskbar, the small website preview block on the bottom is also having the same issue with the distortion/color. This isn't a picture of and entire browser page, but rather the tiny image you see when you put the mouse on the icon in the taskbar. Here is a picture of that small preview block that pops up:

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
- Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
