Need Firefox OS apps for ebooks, audiobooks, and podcasts

ClassicalBookworm

I couldn't find any general apps for managing ebooks, audiobooks, and podcasts in Firefox OS (on the ZTE Open). There is an Audible app but that's no use for library, public domain or non-Audible audiobooks. It would be nice to have an app that works with Overdrive Media Console, which is the main desktop client for audiobooks from public libraries, at least in North America.

It would also be good to have an app for ebooks that can handle EPUB and also Adobe Digital Editions ebooks, with all the usual functions of bookmarking, search, etc.

There also doesn't seem to be a podcatcher for Firefox OS yet. Of course podcasts can be accessed directly on the web but it's more convenient to use a podcatcher to automatically download, bookmark, and keep track of what has been listened to. An app that works with a desktop client like Miro or Juice would be awesome.

Are apps like this in the works? Should I bug the desktop client developers to come up with a Firefox OS app?

I wasn't sure where to post this; admins can do what they like with it.

Hi CB,

Thanks for this feedback, I've forwarded your suggestions to a Marketplace PM to find out the progress on these apps and whom to bug about it. Will post back when I find out more.

Regards, Michelle Luna

Whoops, I mean "OS." *blush*

Thanks, that's great. I'm looking forward to many more wonderful apps.
