Profiles and Rally
So I wanted to join Rally, but I am concerned about granting access to my passwords and logins to the Rally clients. If I create a new profile and sign in with my only Firefox account will Rally clients have access to my passwords and logins from other profiles?
That's what I was looking for. Thank you.Ανάγνωση απάντησης σε πλαίσιο 👍 0

Firefox forum and it's users can't give recommendations on way or another. You want to read creditable online reviews of the Rally that your deciding. Also anything that ask for your passwords or login is a "RED FLAG" trouble coming your way. No organization should ask for your password or login-that in itself should tell you to go the other way.
Well thank you. I'm, however, not looking for recommendations - I'm looking for technical answers. When you install Rally and subsequently join a particular study, you are asked by the extension to agree to allow certain access. For at least two Rally clients, this request includes "Access your data for all websites" which includes user names and passwords. Since I am uncomfortable giving this access even to the most trusted of Mozilla Rally clients, I won't do it.
So then I see there are Profiles and I think I can create a new profile and then use Rally. So now with a little background I will restate the original question:
If I create a new profile and sign in to it with my default profile's login, will the new profile expose details of login information etc. from my default profile? Or, is it necessary to create a new Firefox account for my new profile? This seems to completely defeat the convenience of using profiles. I hope that clears up my question.
That to me I still be wary giving out logins and passwords. This is akin to giving "Remote Access" to your system you don't know when or what they are doing with this. I was going to suggest create a Rally account just for Rally accessing and leaving your other logins out of Rally site. The profile will depend on what they ask for your input to put there. I would say if you decide to I would keep tracking of what you post and follow on there and make sure nothing is being accessed when your not actively logged in on it. If you create a new account for rally it shouldn't connect to your current one AFAIK. I know I myself get quashy when sites wants login and password. Those give out alot of info in one form or another. But if you trust using your FF accounts to use on Rally then you shouldn't have to recreate a new account. Just make sure of your post or request or how they are tracking your usage and if you can log out of rally when just using FF by itself I say do that as will to prevent tracking if your just using FF forum. But this is my experience and yours might be different and better but in the end you will be the final decider and I can only tell from my experiences. But seeing this is something from Mozilla well that we'll see how this goes in terms of what how it's being used for Rally users.
If you sign in to a Firefox Account that you also use for other profiles then this profile will automatically have all the logins stored on the Sync server from that other profile. Only if you do not connect to Sync and do not have passwords store in the Password Manager (about:logins) then you can be sure that Rally can't access any logins (passwords).
That's what I was looking for. Thank you.
