Sent folder in Thunderbird email

On my Outlook account using Thunderbird, my sent mail record is duplicated in the Sent folder. This does not happen in my Bellsouth account. Is there a setting that controls this? It didn't start until April.

Uncheck 'Place a copy in' in the Copies & Folder section of Tools/Account Settings for the account. Outlook.com and gmail automatically copy sent mail to the Sent folder.
