I use to be able to delete my messages from the inbox to the deleted folder, (then delete them permantly later) Now when I delete message from inbox, It has gone! I seem to remember setting something up in "setting" but I do not seem to find any thing now. Could some one give me a clue as to what I am missing? Thank You

Assuming this is an imap mail account Make sure you have subscribed to see the imap 'Deleted' folder which may be called 'Bin' or 'Trash' or 'Deleted Items'. I'm sure you get the idea :)

  • Right click on imap mail accoun tin folder pane and select 'Subscribe'
  • select the 'Deleted' folder
  • click on 'Subscribe'
  • click on OK

Now make sure Thunderbird chooses to use it:

  • Right click on Imap mail account in folder pane and select 'Settings'
  • select 'Server Settings' for that account

When I delete a message:

  • select: 'Move it to this folder' and choose the imap Trash folder on that account.
  • click on OK

Exit Thunderbird wait a short while for background processes to complete start thunderbird
