why wont thunderbird set up my existing email account

i have an orangehome email address and thunderbird says its failed to find settings for email account

Not all e-mail server settings can be guessed at properly by Thunderbird.

I did some investigative work for you. Try manually entering the settings into Thunderbird that you see in my screenshot below.

Replace "jblow" with your username.
