I cannot find a way to remove Drafts, Templates, Trash and other folders that I never use. They just take visual space and are not of any use to me.

If IMAP then you could unsubscribe from seeing those folders.

If POP mail account, Drafts and Templates folders are default folders.

The 'Drafts' folder is created by default when you first saved an email whilst composing. This would have occurred either manually or as according to your account settings. The 'Templates' folder would only be created when you first saved an email as a Template email so it could be reused again and again.

Check your account settings info to make sure certain default settings use a suitable alternative folder. Right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Settings' select 'Copies & Folders' for mail account. Drafts and Templates section allows you to choose. If IMAP the use 'Other' option. click on OK when finished

If you want to stop auto saving to 'Drafts', check your global composing options. 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Composition' > 'General' tab Uncheck: 'Auto save every xx minutes' click on 'OK'

This will mean the only way to save a draft will be manually and this is invoked by you. The draft will be saved to the folder you have selected in Account Setttings. So, if the auto save is switched off and you never manually invoke saving as a draft or saving as a template, then Thunderbird will not create the Draft or Template folders.

The only thing now is to remove the empty unused Draft and Template folders from your mail account. Please remember, if you do save as a draft or template email then these folders will be auto created in either the mail account or Local Folders account depending upon account settings.

Make hidden files and folders visible.
