I suddenly do not have my address book on this computer on my email account and I can't seem to find any way to start a new one or find the old one.

When you open the address book, do you see a Personal Address Book?

I do not have the icon on the task bar for an address book. That is the problem.

Right-click on an empty space of the task bar - Customize. Drag the Address Book icon and drop it to the task bar.

I finally found it. Than you. BTW it was called contacts.
