Does Firefox OS support Bluetooth 4.1?

Firefox OS devices currently on sale only come with Bluetooth 2.1 or 3.0, but I was wondering if Firefox OS supports version 4.1?

Will Firefox OS plan on supporting any of the new Bluetooth protocols in the future?

Bluetooth Smart, Low Energy, BLE

Thanks, so it looks like it is planned for "Firefox OS v2.2 (Planned Feature Landing: 2014/11/21)" But this is a feature completion date and not a release date. So it may be available in v2.2 released around March 2015.

Hi dleggo,

It will be longer than that until version 2.2 is available on commercial devices available for purchase in stores. After the Code Complete date, our partners spend time doing certification and optimizing for specific devices, before it's launched on commercial devices.

However, it's possible to compile and flash the code onto rooted devices, if you are technically savvy. The Flame Reference device is the best one for this, since it's the same one used by developers at Mozilla.
