I think you need a plugin to handle the format/codec of those videos; Firefox doesn't handle many formats on its own.

If you right-click the black area, can you tell from the shortcut menu which plugin currently is trying to play the video? QuickTime supports a lot of formats, if you haven't tried that one already.

I downloaded QuickTime but it did not help I still just get a black box. I can view the videos that come from YouTube but cannot view any that is sent to my Facebook from a camers. Please help.
