I cannnot save a link or website on my bookmarks?

For some reason when I click on save bookmark it no longer works, and therefore cannot saving any web sites. I've tried deleting firefox and adding addons, java update for my mac. Nothing works, I have a mac and enjoyed using Firefox but now having to use Safari, which the bookmarks are working fine. So I know it's a firefox issue? Does anyone have a clue on whats wrong?

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
