I get this message when I click on the "share" link on a web page. I can find 3 profiles, 2 are old and out of date. I have read the articles about profiles and frankly I am at a loss as to what is going on. "A newer version of Thunderbird may have made changes to your profile whaich are no longer compatible with this older version........" As far I getting and sending emails everything is working normally. I just don't understand what is causing the referenced message. Thanks for any help I may receive.

Maybe this will provide some needed information. The directory name "TEST" is not the name on my system I am just using it as an example. C:\Users\TEST\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles In this directory I have these directories:

\4h2ejhxg.default

\bnhwoobd.default-esr

\Xbnhwoobd.default-esr

When I do "Win=R" "thunderbird.exe -p" I get:

default

HN7

default-esr

This last one is the correct up to date one.

Two possibilities: 1. "default-esr" profile is not set to be the default 2. "share" is starting a thunderbird program that is different from the program that is set to use default-esr profile. In other words, you have two or more thunderbird programs installed.

Wayne, thanks for your response.

Here is what I have found. It looks correct to me except I am puzzled by the "Local Directory". I thought the profile was to be in "Roaming".

Looking in C:\Windows\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x86) I can find only one Thunderbid.exe. I believe that indicates I have only one Thunderbird program. Also looked in Users directory. No Thunderbird.exe there.

The following is found in "Trouble shooting Information" in Thunderbird.

Profile: default-esr This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted. Default Profile yes Root Directory C:\Users\Mine\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\bnhwoobd.default-esr Local Directory C:\Users\Mine\AppData\Local\Thunderbird\Profiles\bnhwoobd.default-esr
