Cannot dismiss thunderbird calendar reminder for google calendar
I have an event yesterday with a notification on Google calendar.
I start up email today. Notification pops up. I cannot dismiss the notification.
I edit the event to remove the notification. On Thunderbird - but it won't save. So I go to Google calendar and remove the notification.
On Google calendar, it says I have no notification for this event. On Thunderbird it will NOT let me remove the notification.
Now every time i open thunderbird, the notification pops up. Short of deleting the event (which I do not want to do because I want a record of it on my calendar), there is NO way to make this stop.
I have had this problem pop up periodically for the last 18 months. (Unfortunately, it's getting bad enough with no fix I will need to find a different email/calendar application).
Any ideas how to fix? (Can we get the bug fixed in the code?)

I am not sure whether the following link is related to your situation or not: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1476844
Maybe "Show missed reminders for writable calendars" is ticked and there are some missed reminders.
Maybe you can untick the above-mentioned option (inside "Settings" > "Calendar" > "When a Reminder is Due") and see whether the problem happens again or not.
Or maybe you can mark that calendar as read-only. If you want to do so, the following link might be helpful: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/changing-calendar-preferences
Or maybe you can delete that event. (I know that you said that you do not want to do so.)
I've been having the same issue for years. Normally I can just delete the reminders/notifications from the google calendar and it disappears from Thunderbird. It's a hassle but TB has enough good features that I'm fine to do this added step.
For the one event causing you problems, create a new event and just copy the details over. Then delete the original one.
This keeps happening. It almost always happens on appointments that I did not create (that were shared with me and I accepted).
This has been happening for years now.
Copying the event over without the alarm and deleting the event mostly works. it still pops the alarm up and still does not want to make it go away, but if you click sync anyway, it may eventually work (I have had to do this several times before it worked).
This is bad enough that I am actively looking for another email/calendar client.

I just changed this setting. We'll see if this helps.
