Thunderbird is always downloading hundreds of emails into the "important" folder which slow it down terribly. I dont want it to do this, i dont even know what the important folder is.. I use gmail. Thanks How do I stop this?

The Important folder is a Gmail thing. Go to your account at Gmail and adjust it. Gmail has instructions for using their email.

Gmail offer instructions on how to create a filter to stop mail going to Important. Then you remove all emails from Important.
