I added two emails to a sub-folder in Local Folders and the sub-folder has now vanished. A search for the emails can't find them. Info that may be relevant:

  • I accepted an automated suggestion to compact my folders after filing the emails and before discovering the foder was lost.
  • The Local Folders Disc Space is set to 'Don't delete any messages'

I may have solved this. I suspect under some conditions there's a fault with the 'Compact Folders' process. The alert 'Do you wish to compact all local and offline folders to save disc space? This will save about xy.z MB' appears every time I move an email from the inbox to a local folder. On the occasions I lost my folder I'd accepted this. Since the latest loss I've stopped accepting the 'compact' invitation and not experienced further losses.
