Which is the fastest platform for Thunderbird?
Assuming that I install Thunderbird on the same machine in Linux, Windows and OSX, which is the fastest solution? Are all three variants similarly stable?
I do mainly data-manipulations, imports from other programs, extracting text and/or attachments, not necessary send and receive.

My (very amateur) answer is that I guess there wouldn't be much difference. The speed of the program itself will depend largely on the hardware, which would be the same for all three installations; the speed in daily use will depend on transmission of messages to and from servers, which I assume is largely independent of platforms. In terms of stability, my experience is of Thunderbird with Linux (Xubuntu), and it's rock solid. I have noticed fairly frequent problems reported in this forum by Windows users which result from antivirus software interfering with Thunderbird, and that's not an issue for Linux. However I have also noticed that Thunderbird releases seem to be rolled out to Windows (and Mac?) users before they reach Ubuntu, so if you want the latest version that may be something for you to consider. But as I said I'm just an ordinary user with amateur (non technical) knowledge of computers. I know there are other contributors here who use Thunderbird on more than one platform, they may have useful comments to add.
