Hi,

Preconditions: I made a backup for my profile and then after switching for another version OS, I restored it in accordance with the official manual. I had email account that was using IMAP protocol, all emails were synchronized locally (message synchronization was enabled). That account was disabled on the server before migration.

Problem: After migration I lost access to all emails that were under this account (IMAP). When I open TB for the first time after restoring files, I get a picture of all the emails like I had before with popups that I have to change password to get access to IMAP server. After closing all of these popups I can see a normal folders tree with email subjects but inside all emails are empty. When I close and open TP second time...all information regarding to emails is gone, email account has only empty INBOX folder. Profile size on the first run was 1.8GB, on second 0.2mb...looks like it deletes all synchronized emails. I've tried to run TB in offline mode with the key -offline, but it didn't help, all emails were empty inside. OS:WIN 10, TB 38.3

How can I see my emails stored before?

Thunderbird attempted to synchronize to the server and learned that there was nothing there.

Synchronize means just that.

Perhaps you best enable the account on the server so your mail cache does not get removed.

Thanks for your reply, Let me show you the opened "bug" that comprehensively describes my problem: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=689067#c0 All the same, I had a former job account that was disabled, now I cannot even read my old email, therefore I cannot just enable one on the server. As I understand, actually I have stored old email sources but cannot read them by the means of TB, after attempt to connect to the server all emails are gone. How can I restore or do smth to recover these emails?

RE: I made a backup for my profile

Can you post an image(s )of the backup folders. In particular the contents of the imap mail account folder.

Did you do this ? Synchronise all subscribed folders, then go into offline mode to check you can still read emails, which would confirm you had copies in thunderbird profile and then in offline mode, make a backup before closing/disabling the mail account on server?
