Thunderbird hanging on gmail accounts inbox and no new messages are dwonloaded

Thunderbird is hanging on my gmail inbox folders. There is "in progress" circle on tab but it doesn't complete like ever and no new messages are downloaded. There is already a question similar to this but resolution mentioned there doesn't work for me. Resolution mentioned there is Right click Inbox=>Properties=>Repair folder. When I did that items from my inbox disappeared.

I disconnected my mobile devices completely since someone mentioned that too in the thread I am referring too.

Also, as a side note, it is impossible to register and comment on existing question. I wanted to write this in comment.

OK. I started with all addins disabled and it started working. I will try to determine which add in is causing this behavior and post here. There is big number of extensions that are now disabled.
