In other accounts that are also configured in Thunderbird but run on other servers, the result looks different. Namely:

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

The latter is correct and right. Why does Thunderbird behave differently for the newly created account?

I'm experiencing an issue with using my digital signing certificate in Thunderbird. I have imported a p12 certificate into Thunderbird on my Ubuntu system, and everything seemed to go fine during the import. However, when I try to digitally sign my emails, I receive an error message that says, "Certificate Manager can't locate a valid certificate that can be used to digitally sign your messages with an address of [XXX@XYZ]." It is hosted by an academic institution using office365 products.

I have checked the certificate details and noticed that the Basic Constraints section shows "Certificate Authority: No" marked as critical. I’ve seen that certificates on the internet often have different settings, and I’m wondering if this might be causing Thunderbird to not be able to find my certificate. I have checked the authority settings and both boxes are marked.

I am running the latest version of Thunderbird on Ubuntu, and I have verified that the certificate is imported under "Your Certificates" in Thunderbird's Certificate Manager. My email address in Thunderbird matches the one on the certificate, but the error persists. I would appreciate any help.

When more than one copy of an iMap account exists, there is a problem with Junk mail learning. Namely, the learning only occurs on the computer where the user declares mail to be Junk, not on other copies of the same iMap account. It has been suggested that Training.dat be copied from one account to another, but that wipes out any training that has occurred on the copies that receive the new Training.dat file. A merge is needed.

So... Does THIS work? Go to the Junk folder and select all mail in it. Mark all the mail as Junk (seemingly redundantly). Unless Thunderbird makes a special case of NOT learning from marking mail as Junk when it already is, this ought to work, right?

For the past week or so, I've been getting the following message every time I open Thunderbird.

"The folder 'Outbox on Local Folders' could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again."

Also, the folders appear to be empty, but the eventually repopulate. I have plenty of disk space and haven't changed write privileges. A Google search doesn't turn up any solutions. Can anyone help?

I'm having terrible problems with Thunderbird on my PC today and wonder if anyone can help ???

I looked at some spam killer software yesterday and installed Mailwasher and later Annihilator to test them. Being unsatisfied, I uninstalled both.

But when I logged onto Thunderbird this morning, the basic accounts appeared but no past emails anywhere. So I tried to receive new email and send email and all my server settings are correct but Thunderbird will NOT accept any of my historic passwords. Tried everything many, many times but it keeps rejecting my normal historic passwords there.

I can send email from my Thunderbird PC but not receive emails or see my history there. My Local Folders work properly.

Wonder if Mailwasher or Spamihilator changed my Thunderbird passwords, even though I uninstalled both. No idea what they might be.

My Android email still works perfectly.

Can you help -- help -- or have any ideas ???

Begining at 12:50 PM central time, copies were no longer sent to my sent file (not the folder, the paper airplane shaped file) in my inbox.

Something changed such that copies were no longer sent to my sent file under Inbox. My email is run through web.com and they said it was not their issue and then the next web.com guy said it was their issue. At present messages do get copied if I set "copy to Sent on local folder" but then I don't have access to them away from the office. I am not tech savvy so I don't know what the issue actually is other than an email I sent on February 24, 2025 at 12:50 was the least copied to that file since I started using TB years ago. Any help is appreciated.

I read the solution for my same problem- quoted below. This does not fix the problem for me. Every time I change the SMTP outgoing address for one account the other account gets changed to match it.

"It is exactly as I suspected: all the SMTP servers have the same description. To fix the problem, you need to edit each of them in the account settings>Outgoing Server (SMTP) pane and give each a different DESCRIPTION. Since they all have the same name, Thunderbird goes with the default. I suggest putting each email id within the description field for easy identification. Do that for all four SMTP servers. Then, click the account page for each, and at bottom of pane, click and set the appropriate SMTP server.

I Iooked it up to see how to fix it and they say to remove the "lightning" add on. When I go under tools and look for this add on, it is not there. In fact it doesn't seem that I have any add-ons. Something to do with the calendar which I don't even use. It says Thunderbird is up to date. Could you please give any advice how to fix it. Thanks, Matt

The sender is a website that is sending me a filled out form. These are not coming through. They are being received by others who should also be receiving it.
