Every site I go to (ie: facebook, google, games, etc) says that it can not connect me because of an "untrusted connection" some of these I've added exceptions for - and the page still does not respond properly (ie: no pix) other pages it doesn't even give me the option to override the system, the only option is "get me out of here"

I've updated Firefox with no results.

It is possible that your firewall intercepts (monitors) secure connections and sends its own certificate.

You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.

  • Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"

Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".

  • Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer.

You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.

Delete the cert8.db file in the Firefox Profile Folder or rename the file to cert8.db.old to remove the intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored.

Delete the cert_override.txt file or rename to cert_override.txt.old in the Firefox Profile Folder to remove the permanent exceptions that were stored in it.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
