Using Thunderbird on a Windows 10 laptop. About 2 months ago an error message started popping up every time an email was written. Here's what the box looks like:

Thunderbird

(logo) The current operation on 'Drafts" did not
succeed. The mail server for account
                       k*****@charter.net responded: FETCH could
not complete for one or more messages.

Everything else works fine... just this annoying message keeps popping up. Any ideas on how to fix it?? Thanks! Server Settings: Server Type: IMAP Mail Server

Assuming you have subscribed to see the imap mail account 'Drafts' folder.

Check Account Settings. right click on imap mail account in Folder pane and select' Settings' select 'Copies & Folders' Under Drafts and templates section Keep draft messages in: select 'Other' and select 'drafts on the imap mail account name' click on OK

Thanks for your response. I tried your tip but the error message still pops up. I'm sure it has something to do with the IMAP settings... but what???

She gets her email on a laptop and on her cell phone. I am curious about the settings on the laptop... the IMAP mail server name is: mobile.charter.net, port 587, etc. I don't have a cell phone but that setting seems strange to me. Any ideas about that?

All is correct. Charter use that 'mobile'.charter.net for all laptop or desktop computer, smartphone, PDA, tablet, eReader or other mobile device. Full Server settings for charter.net https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/email-settings/

Thanks. I did find the Charter settings and they all check out. Repaired the Drafts folder and other tips but nothing works. This box with error message keeps popping up.  :-(

When you create a new Write message, you can save a copy in Drafts every x minutes whilst composing or save manually at any point. You may want to finish the email at a later time.

When you finish composing and click on 'Send', the Draft copy should be deleted and the 'Sent' copy stored in the Sent folder.

So that message is either talking about trying to save a copy to drafts during composition of email OR it is refering to deleting the copy in drafts because you have just Sent the email.

The Account Settings I mentioned refer to where to store a copy during composition.

You say every time an email was written. Does that pop up message occur whilst a Write window is open and you are composing an email OR after the email has been sent?

Yes, the error message pops up while typing a new email... before it is sent.

Sometimes the Draft copy is still in the Draft folder after the email is sent. To test it I deleted all the Draft copies so the Draft folder is empty, but that error still pops up when typing a new email.

It is set to save Drafts every minute... changed it to 2 minutes for a test. Will see what happens now.

I'm thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird... haven't done that for a long time. If I remember correctly think the profile folder isn't stored with the program files so that her info and saved email won't be deleted, correct? I work on her computer via Teamviewer and I'm not sure if I can do it online since Windows 10 asks permission for everything. Any suggestions? Thanks for your comments.
