When moving a task from "meine Aufgaben" (my tasks) to another Gmail calendar tasklist ("AI"), a ghost entry, which cannot be completed or deleted, remains in the old Thunderbird tasklist "meine Aufgaben". Thus I have many tasks twice in different Thunderbird-calendars, but only once in Gmail.

I got this answer to my problem:

The Send bar has disappeared KAMI 30 sep. 2025 19:35:12 Hi, to customize the toolbar in Thunderbird: Right-click on an empty space next to the Search bar in the toolbar. Select Customize… (Toolbar) from the context menu. A window will appear showing all available buttons and the current toolbar layout. You can drag and drop buttons to add, remove, or rearrange them. When you’re done, click Done to save your changes. This is the quickest way to restore missing buttons like Send, Attach, or any other tools you use frequently.

Unfortunately, the bottons like Send and Attach are not available here in my application!

Been using Thunderbird for years with these accounts. Just today outlook accounts failing to login. Accounts do not receive email. Can not send email. Checked server settings, which were unchanged and obviously worked previously. Tried deleting passwords in password manager and re-entry. Failed. What's up with the outlook connnection?

Each time I start TB, I get this message: "The folder 'Inbox on MilusC@aol.com' could not be compacted because writing to folder failed. Verify that you have enough disk space, and that you have write privileges to the file system, then try again." What does this mean and what can I do to fix it. Thanks. M. Campbell

Good day, I have received your reply to my problem of missing files in my local folders after upgrading to T-Bird 143.0.1 Your reply is a “No reply” message so I have to start all over again with this new message to go forward. Here is what your reply said: re: I noticed that a large part of one of my local folders is missing.

I presume by local folders you are talking about the 'Local Folders' special account. So, if different you need to clarify.

YOUR REPLY: Please post/upload an image of the 'Folder Pane' which shows everything in 'Local Folders' account. Then post/upload images that show what is in the profile folder: Assuming you are using Windows OS

   In search type: %Appdata%
   select the %Appdata% file folder
   Select 'Roaming' folder
   Select 'Thunderbird' folder
   Select 'Profiles' folder
   Select name of profile folder
   Select 'Mail' folder
   Select 'Local Folders' folder 

Make sure the view is showing all contents in column details format, extensions and hidden files must be allowed. Make window large enough to show all contents - or if necessary, post more than one image. This means I can compare profile with Folder Pane and check to see if appropriate files are missing. What Anti-Virus do you use? Is it allowed to scan your Thunderbird profile folders? Do you use any Anti-Virus or other cleanup program like CCleaner or Wisecleaner that cleans up temp files etc? If yes, then what do you use?

MY REPLY First, your instructions do not work because following your path, I go down each line until I reach (Select Profiles folder) Once opened it gives me the names of my 2 alpha numerical profiles and I opened each profile there is no such thing as "Local Profile" folder. The View shows all files, My AV is Bitdefender; I have no clean up software My system is w10 pro x64 I have been using T-Bird for years and installed dozens of updates always using my same system and tools so something seems to be wrong with the update itself. I have been accessing an e-mail account via web client for many years. The user interface is cumbersome in that it gives limited ability to transfer e-mails to ASCII files on my hard drive (Windows 11 laptop). I have been told that Thunderbird makes this easier and faster, and installed it with this in mind. But first I need to transfer the the e-mails to my local computer and remove them from the server.

I don't know what the verb for this is in Thunderspeak, but "synchronize" goes way beyond what I want to do, transferring data in both directions. All I want to do is download a sub-set of all e-mails to a local copy from which I can make ASCII files.

In the Thunderbird Help section I have found instructions for changing the settings to allow it to download ALL messages at start-up. I only want to download a sub-set of older messages.

The most frustrating part is I have succeeded at doing this twice with older versions of Thunderbird, but don't know how I did it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please explain this option in Account Settings > Synchronization & Storage > Disk Space:

"To recover disk space, old messages can be permanently deleted, both local copies and originals on the remote server." [Then, there are options to allow you to decide how far back you want to save messages from deletion.]

First, I do see that this is not a global setting but is able to be set differently for each email account within Thunderbird, which is great. But it doesn't say whether these deleted messages will draw from EVERY folder or just the TRASH. I need the ability to apply this option to solely the TRASH folder, like "Delete messages older than 90 days," for example. There are messages in the Inbox that I need to save for a year or more, including emailed tickets or travel info, for example.

Hi there,

I am trying to add an email account to Thunderbird. I enter my name and email and click "continue" but receive an error message (it's in German but I'll translate into English): "Registration failed. Please check username and password." Then the circle starts whirring but it basically crashes. See attached screenshot. I then need to close and restart Thunderbird.

The email address and name entered are correct. I haven't even got to the point of putting in a password yet. How do I get passed this?

Hi, starting this morning I suddenly did not have a SEND button in Thunderbird 143.0 (on an iMac) when I tried answering an e-mail, same for forwarding or wring an e-mail. There was no update that I know of. I tried reinstalling Thunderbird, but this did not help. Several online forums mention the topic, but often from many years ago and therefore older versions. e.g. one video suggested switching on a Toolbar, that no longer exists in this version. As far as I can tell - no changes in any toolbar have an effect on what I see INSIDE an unfinished e-mail. So, I am completely blocked from doing any e-mails until I can figure that out. PLEASE HELP!

I have tried reinstalling the program and also tried with an older profile but nothing has helped. What can I do to make everything visible in the program again?

I am an older user and have used Thunderbird for a long time . When switched to Yahoo I still preferred the Thunderbird layout and continued to use it . My computer became like me , to old to be useful , so I purchased a new one . When I set it up and downloaded Thunderbird it came with the Yahoo format that I find hard to use . Enough BS and to my question , how can I return to the old format ? I have a Dell computer running Windows 11 .

I manually chose to go to 143 but no change in bad behaviour. I use only POP3 on a single gmail account I tried troubleshooting and if I select all it starts up quickly, but if I just choose to not do extensions it is slow. No extensions and stock theme. Account settings/Local Folders/Message storage points to my TBIRD folder on another partition so I can use it by either win or Mint and so it stays current/accurate for both - done that for years. Tell me what you need from the crash pending folders as there is a ton of stuff there. "geek" Thanks. (events is empty) (I found an esr for 140.3, I suppose I could try that...)

I changed my gmail account password, and Mozilla Thunderbird is losing its mind. I did the Oauth, logged in, but Thunderbird keeps popping up "Mozilla Thunderbird Email wants to access your Google Account" over and over again, even though I keep clicking on "Allow"!
