I can not get my google workspace account to authorize in Thunderbird. Using IMAP setting. Thunderbird automatically finds the correct server settings, but when I hit "continue", it gives an authentication error.

I have spent extensive time with the google workspace admin console help. This is the final result: "Thank you for trying all the steps so far. Since Thunderbird has already been added under App Access Control in the Admin console, IMAP is enabled, and cookies/cache have been cleared, but the authentication error still persists, this points to a possible issue with the application’s client ID used by Thunderbird for OAuth. In this case, you will need to contact the Thunderbird support team to verify the correct client ID for their OAuth implementation. Once you have the correct client ID, we can then configure it properly in the Google Admin console so the authentication works successfully. We’ve confirmed that all Google Workspace settings on our side are correct, so the next step must be coordinated with Thunderbird’s team."

How do I add my Comcast email account to Thunderbird now that it has switched to Yahoo? When I try to add it all I get are the Comcast mail servers in the setup program to add an email. When I try to edit it and change it to the Yahoo mail servers it does not work. I have used Thunderbird for many years and Firefox for a browser. When I started on the internet I Used Netscape. Firefox and Thunderbird were started by Netscape programmers if I remember right. I love both Thunderbird and Firefox and don't want to change but the way it is now I cannot use Thunderbird for email. I have tried both Pop3 and Imap setups. Neither will either allow me to set up my email in Thunderbird to get email from Yahoo. I do not like the Yahoo Website for email.

Needed to edit an address. 2 problems: 1. somehow part of the address appears in the drop-down = home/work/mobile. How do I delete it? 2. edits are not saved (yes I have clicked save). Permissions all seem good.

Why does the Thunderbird search for an email with certain information no longer work? It used to work OK. Now it usually fails to find any messages with the selected data. eg search for all messages that have jv16 in either the subject or body text. I know there are several in my Thunderbird but they are no longer found by the find function (although they do exist as found by a manual search).

When I extend or modify calendar events there are no reminders given. Often, I will extend an event as I get more appointments. Or modify these events to change the day or hour. These events will never give reminders. Can I reset the reminders for these events? Jerry

Once in a while, when I download email, Tbird fails accessing outlook.com. The message is in the attached image. If I redownload, it works. Any Ideas? P.S. this has happened with several versions of Tbird... Thanks.

I have 4 gmail accounts in Thunderbird. The calendar shows items from all 4 accounts. My issue comes when setting up an invitation. Pretend my accounts are:

personal1@gmail.com personal2@gmail.com personal3@gmail.com business1@gmail.com

If I want to set up a meeting with invitations from business1@gmail.com, I select the account from the left side of the calendar list, then I create a new event on the day I want. The dialogue box correctly shows "business1@gmail.com in the Calendar drop down box at the top. I can then fill in title, location, category, time etc. But when I click on Invite Attendees, thunderbird has already added "personal1@gmail.com" as the first attendee and is waiting for me to enter the contact of the second attendee. If I add people and send it out, it goes from my "personal1" account and not my "business1" account and any replies come into "persoanl1". Same thing happens if I start by selecting the "personal2" or "personal3" accounts first in Calendar view. It always sets "personal1" as the organizer.

I can not figure out why Thunderbird is automatically using "personal1" as a default and sending from there. I am adding a screen shot to show what it looks like after adding an invitee.

I am no longer getting emails on Thunderbird on my computer though I do get them e.g. on my iPad, and I can email out. Is that a problem with Thunderbird or with Bell my service provider?

I can send email via my laptop, which is visible on my mobile devices, but new mail has not downloaded to my laptop since May 25, after being notified by Google that I had to recover my account. Everything works fine via Gmail.

Hello all After a Thunderbird update, a folder named "thunderbird" was created in my Personal folder. This folder is empty. After deleting the folder, it is recreated when Thunderbird is restarted. How do I get rid of this folder? Alternatively, what does this folder contain, and how can I move it to a different location?

Thunderbird 148+ on Windows 11 repeatedly prompts for the password when synchronizing an Exchange account (professional) configured with the native Exchange support (no add-on installed).

The account only offers “NTLM” or “Normal password” authentication methods. OAuth2 is not available in the account settings.

During synchronization, Thunderbird asks for the password separately for many folders. However, clicking “Retry” usually works immediately without changing the password, and manually re-entering the same password also works.

The issue then reappears for the next folder, causing continuous authentication prompts (I have many folders...).

Actions already tested:

• deleting saved passwords and tokens,
• deleting/renaming key4.db and logins.json,
• restarting Thunderbird,
• recreating the account.

The problem persists.

This looks like an authentication/session handling issue rather than an actual invalid password.

Exported ical file from Google Calendar and then went to import into Thunderbird. This previously worked in the same installation. The import failed and the error console displayed the attached message. Restarted Thunderbird. Calendar showed ready and is not read only. Same problem.

My Thunderbird client install on a particular PC had a crash yesterday afternoon, and it appears that I have lost my folder structure and sent folder for one of the 5 email accounts that is set up in this client. The rest of the accounts in this client setup are fine. The account that experienced the crash was set up as a POP3 account, so I cannot just reload from the server. Unfortunately I did not back this thunderbird profile up recently enough. Is there anyway to recover what was lost? Is it hiding somewhere on the PC? ANy options to try?

Later this week I'll need to copy a bunch of old emails to someone (some of them received by me and some sent by me). Does Thunderbird have such a feature or is the easiest way to print them on paper and resort to snail mail?

I have been using maildir as the message storage format for six months. I have known that the implementation is not complete and that there are several known bugs, so using it is risky.

My reports that I have not experienced any problems may have encouraged other people to use maildir, so now I must report a problem.

Twice recently, my IMAP inbox did not show all messages. Repairing the folder worked the first time. The second time, repairing the folder causes all messages in the folder to disappear. Worse, it seems that it deleted the inbox file in the file system.

I do not know if this data loss was due to maildir. It may have been.

I have returned to using mbox.
