sally@myaddress.com is no longer an active address but I receive Sally's emails at jane@myaddress.com, per my setup with Office 365. I am trying to recover Sally's emails from Thunderbird but it won't work. It asks me for Office verification, but sally@myaddress.com isn't the Office account.

Is there a work around?

I don't know why, but Thunderbird disappeared from my computer, at least a couple of years ago.

Sorry, but I still can't fix this. When I click an email, a semi-blank web page "opens", but not the full complete page that I am seeking, as in the past. What opens is a page with a few underlined words or sentences and I have to click on one of these to then get to the full web page that I want. Help! Thanks, Jim

Daily version fails to install .ics file into calendar when running but works when closed and open with .ics file

I associated all Win 11 extensions to Thunderbird Daily (139.0a1 (2025-04-27) (64-bit)) on Win11 Pro . Then I opened a link in email which connects to a website , that downloads the .ics file in FireFox Desktop which I open and that switches back to Thund. Daily to install the Calendar event but it stalls on Step 3 of 3 at 0%. Yet it may show up in the calendar after clicking the Refresh icon. Then visa versa sometimes it confirms the entry 100% and after a refresh icon it does not show it up as a duplicate entry. ( Which would be a nice to have)

Since I had 2 such emails and links to different .ics events, I tried various sequences to cause failure or success., with inconsistent results.

Install with "Daily" open or closed. Install same .ics file from downloads in sequence. Install alternate .ics file from Downloads.

I have been able to get both .ics files installed in the same main calendar but I am trying to find the pattern when it consistently works or fails. (without much success)

If I open #1 .ics file , the Import 3 steps succeeds and is finished but does not add a duplicate entry ( good) When I then open #2 .ics file with the event already stored in the calendar, now I get an error message

Server Replied with 409 If you're seeing this message after snoozing or dismissing a reminder and this is for a calendar you do not want to add or edit events for, you can mark this calendar as read-only to avoid such experience in future. To do so, get to the calendar properties by right-clicking on this calendar in the list in the calendar or task view.


It seems when I chose alternate .ics file imports it fails on#2 . But there were times when I could import from the file menu and get duplicate entries on both .ics files.

My Calendar is NOT set for Read only or Client side control as I also use iOS mobile Thunderbird and iCal.

I am using the Unified Folders view. When I receive a new message in my Inbox, the account with the inbox corresponding to that message turns blue (as expected). If I then mark the message as read, the corresponding account stays marked blue unless I click the arrow next to it. Once I click the arrow next to it to expand the folder list, it immediately goes back to white. I don't understand why this is. Shouldn't the account go to white once the message is marked as read?

I'm getting random incoming message alerts (sound), when there is NO new message/s. The "Show an alert" popup is disabled therefore only sound and app icon settings are enabled. These settings have been thus for a very long time.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me please?

For some time, I cannot send email because of the following error: "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com timed out. Try again."

How can this error be resolved. I have tried what little I could find here and online. Uninstalled and reinstalled and checked settings. Nothing seems to work so far. Using Win 10 on laptop. Worked fine and then just stopped sending and I was not aware at first until I finally saw the error.

I have been using Thunderbird ever since I set up my first email and I like it and am used to it. At some point in time an update was issued and from that point forward I have not been able to send emails or reply to any emails. For what it's worth, I can go through the Comcast website to access my account, but that's a real pain in the butt with a lot of extra steps. It's just so easy to make one mouse click and access it on my desktop. I have contacted Comcast, but they really don't want to deal with me since I no longer have cable service with them (I moved 7 years ago to an area they don't serve). I have a Gmail account and a Charter account and have no trouble with either of those sending or receiving. I really like Thunderbird and would like to figure this issue out and correct it. Messages from some of the folders in Local Folders disappeared for no reason at all. The folder file and the .msf file though are not empty and if you edit them with a text editor you can see the messages. Also in the folder properties although the number of messages is 0 the folder size in not empty. Any ideas?

This drives me nuts. I want Thunderbird to open links in a specified browser (not the default). I checked the https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/hyperlinks-in-messages-not-working#w_check-that-no-application-is-specified-for-the-http-content-type page and found no solution. In my settings > general > Files & Attachments I don't have any http/https entries. In the config I set the "network.protocol-handler.external-default" to false, "network. protocol-handler.warn-external.http" and "network. protocol-handler.warn-external.https" to true. When I click a link, nothing happens.

I'm on Fedora 42 (Gnome), tried both Fedora binary and flatpak. No luck so far.

I would appreciate your help.

After changing from POP to IMAP to fix the earlier delivery problem, I have lost the existing file structure, filters, etc. Comcast email is coming in fine but there are only 6 folders while there should be 47 and all the filters s are gone. I have tried rebuilding the current global-messages-db.sqlite file but it stops after 12 hours and was only 10% finished at 2 GB instead of the prior anticipated 16 GB. These are the Profile directories: 04/28/2025 12:53 AM 26,073 MB 3249x1co.default-esr-3 04/27/2025 11:30 PM 358,524 MB 6rvpjum0.default-esr-2 11/21/2024 09:29 PM 249,883 MB 6rvpjum0.default-esr-2_sav 11/21/2024 09:29 PM 6.3 MB dvldbfwi.default-release

I am sure when I first began to use Thunderbird, I could see draft emails or sent emails but that feature seems to have disappeared .

Recently I have drafted an email, added an attachment then checked to ensure the correct attachment has been selected then my email has vanished and so needs to be redrafted. Does the step of checking the attachment cause the document to be deleted?

Your advice would be appreciated.

Love Tbird for years. Never a problem with Tbird on desktop, but sending email from my laptop has always been sketchy with Charter/Spectrum; I've fiddled with switching SMTP ports to allow sending from laptop and often succeeded (using suggestions from web: ports 587, default 465, and a few others). However, if I managed to send from laptop while at home, when I'd leave town and attempt to send email I'd receive Spectrum's hated message: "An error occurred while sending...charter.net...cmsmtp...blocked". Now I'm unable to find a port on my laptop that the SMTP server won't block. My suspicion is that the problem is caused by the simultaneous installations of Tbird on the laptop and desktop and the SMTP server won't accept mail sent from both when using the same ports. I was able to send a test email from my laptop while my desktop was being updated (and offline, obviously), but as soon as the desktop was updated I was no longer able to send from my laptop again (blocked SMTP server message).

Thanks in advance to any users who have some good suggestions.

My Inbox showed no messages the last time I started Thunderbird (until Thunderbird started to download new messages). I looked on the C: drive under Profiles, and the Inbox showed 0 KB, when a backup from 10/17/2021, was 1.67 GB (1,753,217 KB). I am not sure how this happened. I think there were Thunderbird updates for a couple of days before I noticed the problem. I had been having trouble with Windows 10 updates, and saved files on an external hard drive on 4/20/25 to back them up, but by then, the Inbox file in my Thunderbird profile showed 0 KB. I am using POP to download emails. Is there any way I can get my emails back? Are they saved somewhere else? Thank you in advance for your help!
