Code changes regarding HiDPI have landed in Firefox 22 and later (bug #844604).

You can modify the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx and increase or decrease the value in 0.1 or 0.05 steps to adjust the size of fonts and other elements in Firefox.

• The layout.css.devPixelsPerPx pref is a String value parsed to a float and allows to fine tune the dimensions of all elements (user interface and web pages) more precisely (resolution 0.1 or 0.05).

• Change the default value -1 to 1 to make it work like in previous Firefox versions (100%)
• Use values between 0.05 and 1.0 to reduce elements in size.
• Use values greater than 1.0 to magnify and make elements larger (percentage divided by DPI, % / DPI).

Thanks for the help. Got it back to normal size but the overall interface is still cluttered. Did a check on the net and found that it is due to some problem with the 22 update. Is there any way that I can revert back to FF 21? Found a link at http://releases.mozilla.org but I have no idea how to download it

And it will be great if anyone can tell me how to stop FF from automatically updating

Attached the image. As you can see there is a gap just above the tabs while the Minimize button is somewhat superimposed on the New Tab button...not exactly browser breaking but still feel a bit irritated with it....btw the link you gave, it says the version is 17.0.7esr...should I simply download the English version?

Yes did that...thats what corrected the size problem of the websites and the bookmark toolbar...but this problem persists

Ist schon raffiniert, ein Thema nachträglich so abzukürzen, um nach außen hin darzustellen, als ob es gelöst wäre. Wo sind denn die anderen 4 Seiten mit den Fragen geblieben, bevor das Thema einfach von Mozilla geschlossen worden ist?

Wenn ich unter Windows 8 auf Firefox 23 update, ist die Anzeige in Ordnung. Ebenso in Ordnung ist die Anzeige in SeaMonkey 2.20 unter Windows 8, der den gleichen User-Agent wie Firefox 23 hat (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 SeaMonkey/2.20). Aber unter Windows 7 ist die Anzeige von SeaMonkey 2.20 nach wie vor fehlerhaft, so dass ich davon ausgehen muss, dass auch die Anzeige von Firefox 22 und 23 unter Windwos 7 immer noch fehlerhaft ist. Gibt es dazu Erkenntnisse? Vielen Dank im Voraus für die Antwort.

Im Übrigen habe ich es bereits an anderer Stelle vermerkt, dass bislang niemand von der Ausgabe von Webinhalten im Internet Explorer 11 einen ähnlichen Darstellungsfehler (2xfacher Zoom als Standard im Firefox 22 und eben im SeaMonkey 2.20) berichtet hätte. Das widerspricht den hier im Forum vorher (nämlich am Ende der ingesamt 5 Seiten zu diesesm Problem) getroffenen Aussagen, dass der "High-DPI-Support" im IE 11 sowie im Chrome 30 ähnliche Probleme schaffen würde. Offensichtlich konnte man dort das Problem besser lösen als bei Mozilla.

Diese Seite http://browserspy.dk/screen.php ergibt zwischen den Angaben unter Windows 7 und unter Windows 8 für den Browser SeaMonkey 2.20 recht unterschiedliche Angaben.

Unter Windows 8: Width 1920; Height 1080; AvailHeight 1040; AvailWidth 1920.

Unter Windows 7: Width 1536; Height 864; AvailHeight 826; AvailHeight 1536.

Die Bildschirme beider Rechner haben die Auflösung 1920x1080 bei einer Wiedergabefrequenz von 60Hz. Die Grafiktreiber beider PCs sind aktualisiert.

Kann mit diesen Zahlen jemand etwas anfangen? Die fehlerhafte Anzeige ist unter Windows 7. Unter Windows 8 zeigt SeaMonkey 2.20 korrekt an - und hat auch hinsichtlich der Auflösung ermittelt mit der eingangs erwähnten Testseite die gleichen Zahlen wie unter Firefox 23. Unter Windows 7 nutze ich aufgrund der schlechten Erfahrungen mit Firefox 22 wieder Firefox 21 sowie zum Testen alle anderen Browser, in denen keinerlei Probleme mit der Anzeige von Webinhalten festzustellen sind.

But in Windows 7, the display of SeaMonkey 2.20 is still flawed, so I must assume that the display of Firefox is still faulty 22 and 23 under Windwos 7 always. There are findings? In addition I have noted it already somewhere else, that so far no one of the output of Web content in Internet Explorer, 11 similar display issues (2xfacher zoom as a default in the Firefox of 22 and in the SeaMonkey 2.20) had reported. This contradicts the statements made here in the Forum before (namely at the end of the total 5 pages about this issue), that the "high-DPI support" in the IE 11 as well as the chrome would create 30 similar problems. Obviously, there could solve the problem better than at Mozilla.

Can someone make these figures? The faulty display is Windows 7. Windows 8, SeaMonkey 2.20 shows correctly - and has determined with regard to the resolution the same numbers as under Firefox 23 with the aforementioned test page. In Windows 7 I use Firefox 21 due to the bad experiences with Firefox 22 again, as well as all other browsers, in which to determine any problems with the display of Web content are for testing.

this just indicates that you have set windows in the windows control panel > appearance > display to display at 125% on your windows 7 device and apparently to 100% on windows 8. more information about that is available at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/make-the-text-on-your-screen-larger-or-smaller

in upcoming versions of ie and chrome those browsers will also rely on that setting when rendering web content just as firefox does now.
