Certain websites will load eg. Facebook, Google, etc. but others, eg. YouTube will not open. Why? And how can I fix this?

Firstly, I downloaded the latest edition of Firefox. It then crashed several times in a row. This is when certain websites stopped responding and refused to open. I don't know what the criteria are for which websites open and which do not as I have no problems with sites such as Facebook, Google, etc. yet sites such as Youtube won't open. Also, If I search for something on Google, once it returns results, I cannot open certain websites from the links given to me by Google. Eg. if I search Google for Musicnotes.com, I can click the link and the page will open. But if I search for my university website, the page won't open. When I closed Firefox and went to reopen it, all I got was the "send error report" screen several times over. If I clicked "Close" or "Restart" Firefox, nothing would happen, it just returned me to the "send error report" screen. I then restarted Firefox in safemode as well as restarting it without add-ons. But I am having the same problems with opening websites. What can I do?

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

I have tried to reset Firefox, as well as restart it in Safe Mode. Same results. I have cleared all history, cookies and cache. I am still unable to open certain websites or open any "search results" from Google. I have included a screenshot below of what happens when I try to access Youtube. The same thing happens with certain other websites and when I try to open a link on Google "search results" page. I am nearly 5 hours into a scan by Microsoft Safety Scanner with no sign of it ending soon or no sign of it actually doing anything to fix the problem. Ideas?

Did you try the first two malware scanners that I listed?

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that have a "bp-" prefix:

  • bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.

  • You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website, or open the crash reports page via "Help > Troubleshooting Information".

No I have only used Windows Defender, Microsoft Safety Scanner and Kaspersky TDSSKiller. I will use the first two you posted and see what happens. I have already submitted the (many) crash reports to Mozilla and I also included the 3 most recent crash reports in my original post under "System Details", which I think is visible on the right hand side of the page.
