i have an htc evo shift 4g phone but i like to use the keyboard and the fn but it doesnt work

Yes, I can confirm this problem in the released version. I don't know why apps would handle the hardware keyboard directly; seems Firefox Mobile should just receive the characters from the device. ??

James is saying that someone has reported this problem to the developers and there is a "bug" queued in the system to get it fixed. But... it isn't fixed yet.
