How force HTTP-mode for specific websites?
How can I override the default to connect to a website in HTTPS-mode and enforce a HTTP connection for specific websites, like the configuration server on modems/routers?
Where is the Firefox-for-Desktop option in the padlock menu for the Android version, when it says "Connection is not secure", to turn off "HTTPS-Only Mode" temporarily or permanently for that site?
All I have available, is the in this case pointless "Retry" button and the useless info "This connection has timed out". But nothing at all to force a HTTP-Only connection.
The solution can't be, that every time I need to connect to a website that does not support transport encryption, to have to dive deep into FF's settings and globally disable "HTTPS-Only Mode", and once I am done, go back and enable it again.
So, what is the pragmatic solution on mobile Firefox to add and manage such exceptions?

There is no easy way to set http only per site. The closest you could do is use private browsing mode for those http sites that you wish to visit.

That is really disappointing news.
Since the big overhaul back in Aug 2020, where everything was turned upside down and almost everything that made mobile Firefox useful was thrown out or made unusable, there now really aren't any good reasons to keep using it.
No wonder Mozilla's market share keeps going down the drain and getting closer and closer to irrelevance.
If not even the most basic functionality, like connecting to HTTP-only sites, is possible without any contortions, then it's really more than overdue to abandon Firefox as well, like so many others have done already.
So far, I've stuck with it despite Mozilla's infinite wisdom to constantly remove essential features and cripple the mobile version as best as they can, but at some point, enough is enough.
And apparently, based on Statcounter, its [April'23 market share] worldwide is nowadays just measly 0.52%, showing, that a lot of others already came to the same conclusion a long time ago as well.

I just looked into Settings, it seems that your suggestion wouldn't work that way either. If at all, it would be just the opposite. The setting is either "HTTPS-only" "in all" or "only in private" tabs.
It really is despicable how Mozilla is crippling the very foundation and basic usability of the mobile browser but at the same time wastes huge amounts of time and money on stupid user interface gimmicks, hardly anybody wants and cares about. So sad!
